Discipline an issue for Sky Blues

frank-farina-01Sydney FC coach Frank Farina has drummed into his players that they must be more disciplined away from home.

The Sky Blues have seen five players sent off in their past four away games. Playing with a full 11 players is a must, says Farina, if the club is to go all the way this season.
Having spent so much of the campaign in the doldrums, Sydney have picked themselves up and moved right back into contention for the Finals Series. The last thing the Sky Blues coach wants is for their hard work to be undone by a lack of discipline on the road.
The club's last away win came on 9th December, since when they have picked up just two points from seven away games. Fabio Alves has been sent off twice in that time, and his red card contributed to another loss as Sydney went down 2-1 to Perth Glory. Alessandro Del Piero's stunning strike from 27 metres counted for little as the Glory scored through Chris Harold and Shane Smeltz in the first half.
Farina said: "You've got to try to keep 11 men on the park if you're going to have a chance, and we haven't done that.
"It's killing us. It's making it really hard for the rest of the players that do stay on.''
Sydney will hope to remain in contention for the top six by picking up results against Central Coast and Melbourne Victory in their next two games, both of which are at home. They then wrap up the regular season by travelling to Western Sydney and Brisbane Roar.
Socceroos skipper Lucas Neill is a doubt for Saturday night's clash with the Mariners, after pulling up tight in his calf after the Glory game.
Sydney FC are 3.60 to beat Central Coast, who are 2.05. The Sky Blues are 13.00 to win 1-0.
