Fernandinho has declared that Manchester City will be gunning for the full six points ahead of his side’s Champions League double-header against CSKA Moscow.
The Citizens, who are currently in second spot in Group D with three points from two games, will face the Russian side on 23rd October and 5th November in away and home fixtures respectively.
And Fernandinho has urged his team-mates to pick up the full points from the two matches, as that would put Manchester City in a commanding position to qualify to the knockout stages of the coveted tournament.
“This is all about six points because we play CSKA twice back-to-back and we must win there”, he explained to his club’s official site.
“If we do that and then beat them at home, we will take a big step towards qualification.”
The 28-year-old further added that the Etihad Stadium outfit will try to keep their focus on winning the CSKA game tomorrow despite a huge Premier League clash against Chelsea looming on the horizon on Sunday.
“We have two hard away games this week with Chelsea coming up on Sunday, but we will try to keep our concentration”, he added.
“We have to go for the win. We can’t think about the draw – we need to go there and leave with three points.”
Fernandinho joined Manchester City from Shakhtar Donetsk during the summer transfer window and has made 10 appearances in all competitions for his new employers so far.
The Citizens are 1.75 to secure a victory in Moscow on Wednesday and 2.62 to keep a clean sheet.
