"To be named amongst such great players in the Greatest Ever Australian Team, both past and current, is something I will never forget."

The late Johnny Warren (right midfield), Ray Baartz (right striker), Alan Davidson (left back), Ned Zelic (centre midfield) and Joe Marston (centre back) were also named.

Van der Vaart focused on Tottenham

Rafael van der Vaart has seemingly put to bed any speculation about his future by insisting he is committed to Tottenham and talk of a transfer is "just gossip".

rafael-van-der-vaartThe Dutch playmaker has been one Spurs's top performers since he joined from Real Madrid in 2010 and was a key figure under Harry Redknapp.

However, following Redknapp's departure and Tottenham's failure to qualify for the Champions League again rumours began circulating that Van der Vaart was keen to leave White Hart Lane.

"I am about to play for Tottenham Hotspur in the new season. I have had two good campaigns in England and I am enjoying it."

Former club Hamburg admitted they would be interested in signing the 29-year-old, while teams in the Middle East were also thought to be after his signature.

However, Van der Vaart has now moved to quash talk that he wants to leave north London and says his only focus is on the upcoming season with Spurs.

"It's kind of incredible how my name has been mentioned across Europe in the last few days," Van der Vaart told BILD. "But I just want to say that this is just gossip talking.

"I am about to play for Tottenham Hotspur in the new season. I have had two good campaigns in England and I am enjoying it."

With Luka Modric poised to leave Spurs, van der Vaart will be even more integral to the club and new manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Spurs are desperate to secure Champions League football again and are 2.87 to finish in the top four this season.

Norwich looking over their shoulders

Norwich City's Russell Martin is focused on survival this season - despite the comfortable campaign the Canaries enjoyed last term.

norwich-cityDespite a 12th place finish last season, Martin declared: "I think it's well documented the second season's extremely tough for any team so for us as a group of players, we'd love to build on last season and the way we played.

"I think the most important thing is staying in the league. I think if you ask the majority of fans, they'd say exactly the same. It's about consolidating and making this club a Premier League team for years to come."

Norwich will have to be wary of second season syndrome, which has caught plenty of clubs out in the past. The Canaries are currently 2.50 to be relegated.

Meanwhile, Martin, speaking to Talksport, is delighted that skipper Grant Holt' has signed a new contract seeing it as a major boost to City's chances.

He said: "It was a good boost for the club just before pre-season started. The big man's staying, so it's really good news."

Martin also welcomed the arrival of defender Steve Whittaker and midfielder Jacob Butterfield. adding: "We've made a few good additions already and I'm sure the manager's got his sights on other players It always picks up the squad, keeps people on their toes. Competition is really healthy. "As footballers, you have to embrace competition and use it to improve yourself."

Norwich start their season with a trip to Fulham, a game they are 4.33 to win, with the Cottagers 1.83 and the draw 3.50.

Borini on verge of Liverpool deal

Italian striker Fabio Borini will arrive in England on Friday to undergo a medical and complete a £12m move to Liverpool.

fabio-boriniThe Roma star has already agreed personal terms of around £70,000-a-week and is expected to pen a four-year contract.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers previously has worked with the 21-year-old when he was coming through the youth ranks at Chelsea, and also took him on a loan spell at Swansea.

Should Borini's move go through he could make his competitive debut against West Brom, a game the Reds are 2.00 to win, with the Baggies 3.75 and the draw 3.40.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are set to hold further talks with both Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy about their futures at Anfield over the weekend.

Rodgers would prefer to keep Bellamy as a squad player but won't stand in the way of interest from the winger's hometown club Cardiff City.

Carroll has been linked with moves to West Ham United and his former club, Newcastle United, but sources in Italy are stating AC Milan are poised to propose a 12-month loan deal should Zlatan Ibrahimovic compete a switch to big-spending Paris St Germain.

No matter what changes Rodgers makes he will still hope to be able to guide Liverpool back into the top four and secure Champions League football again.

The Reds are 3.00 for a top four finish this season.

Fulham snap up Rodallega

Fulham have completed the signing of former Wigan star Hugo Rodallega on a free transfer, the striker signing a three-year contract.

hugo-rodallegaThe Colombian hitman has been on the look out for a new club since his contract with the Latics ran out at the end of last season.

Despite Roberto Martinez's best attempts to get Rodallega to stay he opted to move on in the hope of securing a deal with a bigger club.

In the past Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with the 26-year-old but neither made a move for the striker when his deal ran out.

Instead, Fulham manager Martin Jol has pounced to capture Rodallega as he looks to bolster his attacking options following the recent exits of Andrew Johnson, Bobby Zamora and Pavel Pogrebnyak from Craven Cottage.

Dutch coach Jol says he is delighted to have fended off interest from a number of other Premier League clubs to capture Rodallega and expects him to be a big hit in west London.

"There has been a lot of interest in him [Rodallega] from other top-flight teams in England and abroad, so to be able to add his quality to our squad is a massive boost this early in our preparations for the new campaign," he said.

"He is a great addition and I think he will contribute very well to our style and philosophy here."

The Cottagers will hope Rodallega's goals can propel the club further up the Premier League table than the ninth place finish they enjoyed last season, with Jol's men 11.00 to finish in the top six.

Fulham start their season at home to Norwich on August 18 in a game they are 1.83 to win, with the Canaries 4.33 and the draw 3.50.
