Andy Murray has opted out of the Rogers Cup later this month to try and ensure he is fully refreshed for his bid to retain his Olympic singles title.
The Wimbledon champion has featured in Canada every year since 2006, but has decided that he needs further rest to make sure he is in peak condition for the action in Rio in early August.
The Rogers Cup takes place in Toronto between 23rd and 31st July, where Murray would have been the defending champion, having also won the tournament in 2009 and 2010.
However, he is clear that he has made a right decision to skip the action in Toronto, saying in an official statement:
"I always look forward to coming to Canada and it's the first time I've missed the tournament - the guys there do a great job and always look after the players.
"My body needs some recovery time after reaching the latter stages of tournaments over the past few months." Murray is available at 15/8 with bet365 to retain his Wimbledon crown next summer.
